The United States has been one of the most influential countries in terms of business, trade and culture. Though some think of the United States of America as a paradise and a land of promises, some think of it otherwise.The government of Venezuela and Bolivia have been the two steadfast foe of the United states and its policies. The two seeks independence from the grip and the "imperialism" of the United States. From removing the United states embassy and representative in the country, to now the launching their very own satellite. It seems like there is no stopping Venezuela in seeking independence even if it has to mean resistance to the United States of America's policies. Venezuela, through its Minister of Energy, is persuading members of the Organization of Petroleum-Exporting Countries (OPEC) to cut at least one million barrels from its production to keep prices at around $70 to $8- per barrel.According to the minister, the clash of the financial mamrkets in the Western world is significantly reducing demand for crude oil. Russian warships armed with nuclear powered cruiser missiles are heading to Venezuela for joint naval exercises next month.It is believed that the this latest Russian deployment of military power to the Western Hemisphere, first since the end of Cold War, is a response to the US dispatch of warships to Georgia last September. Hugo Chavez, President of the oil rich Latin American nation, visited Russia and secured a $1 billion credit line to by weapons and nuclear technology for his country.
