Giuliani defends his firm's work for Citgo

Acknowledging that his opponents will try and exploit it, Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani strongly defended his law firm's role in frepresenting Citgo Petroleum Corp., which is ultimately controlled by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, saying it was helping protect American jobs.

Chavez aims to unify socialists

Suggesting that some of his political allies who are resisting his plan to form a single socialist party leave his movement and go their own way, President Hugo Chavez says he hopes the split will be amicable even if they defect to the opposition.

UK university debates Venezuela

One of the ideas discussed at the Bristol University Forum on Latin American countries, was what Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has called Socialism of the 21st Century. This year the University of Bristol hosted its second Latin American Forum.

Chavez comments on marriage

Social programs in Venezuela aided by oil

Awash with money with oil prices hovering above $55 a barrel, this Latin American country is using its oil revenues to benefit a variety of social programmes for the poor and disadvantaged.

Chilean envoy to Venezuela quits

Chavez: Venezuela surpasses US in aid given

President Hugo Chavez says Venezuelan financial aid to Latin America has surpassed U.S. commitments in the region. Venezuela is now sending some 200,000 barrels a day of oil under the deals to various Latin American countries.

Bush and I may play baseball together says Chavez

After calling US President George Bush variously a devil a donkey and a drunkard, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says it is nothing personal, suggesting that the two might even overcome their differences and play a game of dominos or baseball together.

New sources attempt to link canditate to Venezuela

Attempts to link presidential hopeful Giuliani to companies with Venezuelan ties and listed amongst the accounts that the firm lobbies for, have been dismissed by the firm. It appears that Giuliani has never worked on any of these accounts.
