Hugo Chavez, at his swearing in on January 8, decided he wanted to emphasize his socialist revolution by renaming Venezuela's official name to "Socialist Republic of Venezuela". Instead he has changed his mind and the official name will remain the "Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela". Hundreds of Venezuelans protested on Tuesday against a new plan that essentially gives Hugo Chavez total power. The protesters don't want to live in a dictatorship. Opposition leaders want their voices to be heard. Petroleos de Venezuela SA, or PDVSA, is Venezuela's state oil company and it's looking to do business with Oil & Natural Gas Corporation of India. India wants oil-rich Venezuela to a build refinery in India. The proposed refinery could potentially produce 900,000 to 1 million barrels of oil daily. Negotiations are still underway.
