In a rare move for the Latin American nation, Venezuela gave credit to the US Coast Guard for cooperation in a large drug seizure operation. Recent moves by the United States showed to be good signals to reset US-Venezuela diplomatic relations, according to President Hugo Chavez in an interview with Caracas-based TV channel Telesur.The United States is now opening a trial against Posada Carilles, a naturalized Venezuelan who was accused of lying about his involvement in a series of 1997 bombings in Cuba. Venezuela is also seeking the extradition of the former CIA operative for allegedly being the mastermind of a 1976 bombing of a Cuban carrier while living in Caracas. Posada is set to be arraigned in US Federal Court on April 17. It's rare to find news outfits that publish criticizing remarks of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, given that Chavez seems to be inhospitable to press freedom, and yet, there are these outfits that allow the criticisms to fly through.Among them is the Tal Cual, which compared Chavez to the American Richard Nixon, and in the end declared that Chavez's crimes were worse than the latter.
