Venezuela won't sign OAS declaration

By Crissy at 03/02/07 20:04
Venezuela has refused to sign the OAS anti-terrorism declaration. Venezuela will continue to refuse to sign the declaration as long as the United States has a man accused of bombing a Cuban jetliner in 1976 in custody. Venezuela is against terrorism, but wants Luis Posada Carriles dealt with. Venezuela feels the U.S. is protecting Carriles instead of just holding him until he can be deported.

Reporters without Borders ordered to pay fine

By Crissy at 03/02/07 17:28
Hugo Chavez controls the newspapers and news stations. There is no free press in Venezuela. So when Reporters without Borders received a fine, they feared it was just a political punishment. An open letter to Chavez's daughter was published in what was meant as a humorous tone. Chavez apparently didn't appreciate it and levied the fine. RWB knows that no crime has been committed but undoubtedly will pay the fine.
